Leading punching and loose leaf binding manufacturer Renz, has said its post IPEX 2010 sales are set to approach £1 million after its highly successful launch of two new binding systems at this years exhibition.

The new Renz machines creating this buzz at IPEX were:

The revolutionary Autopunch 360-120 Block to Block - A floor-standing high speed punching machine allowing for fully automated punching of book blocks and less manual product handling.

The DBW 360/ KL 500 – An automatic cover turner linked to the already popular high-speed binding lines, the AB 500 HS and ABL 500. Its unique automatic feature of flipping the back cover over after the binding process is complete and spinning every second book 180 degrees for easy stacking and packaging means minimal manual product handling; something which many of our customers are excited about. These new introductions to the already successful Renz portfolio are aimed at addressing new pressures on printers, such as the print-on-demand market and calls for increased automation or inline systems and further demonstrate Renz’s ability to continually adapt to market demands.

A major highlight for Renz was selling one high speed Autopunch (AP 360) per day at the show. Dermot Callaghan – Renz UK Bindery Products Sales Manager said “This machine, a leader in its field, reduces punching bottle necks. With just one operator needed it is capable of comfortably punching in excess of 60,000 sheets per hour”.

Daniel Pooley – Renz UK Sales & Marketing Manager said of IPEX 2010 “This has been like no other recent show we have been part of; with customers having new found confidence to invest. In past years customers have been more reluctant to spend, preferring to wait for new products rather than investing heavily in technology already on the market. We feel that with the launch of our new range, together with renewed confidence in the market our customers are more than willing to begin investing again”.

Iain Bullock, Renz UK Managing Director, said “IPEX 2010 has exceeded all of our expectations. It has lived up to its reputation of being a selling show, with Renz taking £100k worth of new orders in the first three days alone. There was a hugely positive air throughout and less negativity and cautiousness than we have experienced from customers in recent years”.

Renz were also ecstatic about the number of demonstrations and sales of their hugely successful bench top semi automatic punching machine (DTP 340 A) and semi automatic binding machines (ECL 360 / WP 300). These machines were designed to specifically bridge the gap between full automation and traditional foot pedal punching and binding systems and it is testament to Renz’s innovation that even with the introduction of newer, more automated machines, these machines still remain hugely popular with customers.

Daniel Pooley added “An investment of only £10.5k gives customers the ability to test the market or take on larger run lengths, before making a bigger investment into fully automated systems.”

IPEX 2010 demonstrates that the motto “Innovate through Technology” is engrained in the fibres of Renz. From adaptable, high speed machines to zero waste and biodegradable consumables, Renz keep pushing the boundaries, to ensure they remain leaders in their field.

In 1982 he first worked for several months in the field for the former chief agency of RENZ in Colombia. As from 1983 he supported the field service of RENZ Germany. In 1986 he took on the position of Domestic Sales Manager. However, increasingly his time was occupied coordinating marketing activities like merchandising, advertising and exhibition preparation. As a result of this Mr. Staib, who is now 63 years old, was given the position of Marketing Director in November 1989.

In this position he has become known to many people in the paper, office and graphic industry as a "wily fair fox" and has been ever present at all RENZ exhibitions for many, many years.

Over the last few years he has led a particularly successful rework of the RENZ Corporate Design as well as overseeing the recent website relaunch.

Mr. Staib will be sorely missed by all of his colleagues at RENZ and by the many industry friends that he has made over the years.

His duties and responsibilities will be redistributed internally.

Happy New Year !

We wish you – our customers, suppliers, business partners and friends – a happy, prosperous New Year.

What we wish you is: Don’t forget to smile.

Because:

A smile is free and brings a big return.

It enriches the receptor without making the giver poorer.

Nobody is rich enough that he could abstain from it.

And nobody is that poor that he couldn’t afford it.

It means recovering for the tired,

encouragement for the discouraged,

cheer up for the sad

and it is the best remedy against anger.

RENZ® attended Paperworld in Frankfurt

With the fair attendance Chr. Renz GmbH (Heubach, Southern Germany) wanted - amongst others - to set an example. Contrary to the trend that some nameable companies of the POS-branch decided against an attendance at Paperworld, RENZ® showed of force!

On the booth the new RENZ DSP 360 was in the main focus. It is an automatic punching machine in modular principle for punching widths up to 360 mm.  The core of the system, the electrical punching unit, is expandable by an automatic feeder and an automatic ejection with paper tray.

When punching with the automatic feeder you can optionally switch on manual feeding if a very special and sensitive paper should require this. A novelty is the automatic jogging of the paper before punching: in the past you run the risk of unclear punching when you didn’t fed the paper accurately. Today with the RENZ DSP 360 this may not happen: the paper is automatically centred.

This product closes the gap between the desktop solution RENZ DTP 340 A and the fully automatic heavy duty system RENZ Autopunch 360. Allows smaller digital service providers the ability to punch automatically.

In addition, the design of already known RENZ combi comfort, an electric punching and manual binding machine for plastic combs has had a face lift to fit with the new generation office products RENZ RING WIRE® machines and pouch laminators. These machines were also exhibited at Paperworld.

RENZ® showed further products from the Office Line and Semi-Professional Line: prospects found at the RENZ booth mainly solutions for binding with RENZ RING WIRE®.  But also products for spiral and plastic comb binding and for pouch laminating were exhibited.
